Is it important to have people from different countries supporting humanitarian organization?

In the late 20th Century and the early 21st Century learners have been growing up in a global environment. It is now possible for people from all around the world to communicate with each other in a daily basis. I have chosen the focus question “is it important to have people from a number of countries to support humanitarian organizations?”As I believe that it is very important to have world-wide support for these organizations. The more people that are aware of the problems and are able to help the better for those affected. Obviously the ability to communicate globally is going to greatly improve this process.

The internet is important for humanitarian associations such as (Red Cross/ Red Crescent). This organization was established in 1863 in Geneva (Switzerland). Initially a small community working in Switzerland but later became an international organization. Of course at that time there wasn’t as much internet as now. But in 1998 it really started to work and more and more people visited their website and everyday more and more people join their organization. I think that people should help humanitarian associations even if they don’t help physically as they can help by being online. By using the internet a person in any country can access information about Red Crescent and make a personal investment in supporting this cause. You can visit the websitehttp://www.ifrc.org/.

Gemma Rice (now Gemma Sisia), was 18 years old and she went to northern Tanzania from Australia. Once there she completely fell in love with the country (Tanzania). When she saw that there were no schools, she decided to make a school. In 2002 the school opened with only a small amount of students and teachers. Today the school has almost 1200 students, 130 teachers, and 200 staff. The internet is a big help for her so that people can see what she has achieved. You can see the website www.schoolofstjude.co.tz. For me this lady did a really great job!!!!! I don’t think a lot of people would have the same courage as her, and don’t forget she was only 18.

Have you ever questioned if you are a good global citizen? If you are doing the right thing? Well after reading this I discovered that the internet is very important to connect all kinds of people. I think we should have more people supporting humanitarian associations because if every person helps a little the world would be amazing. Children could go to school, they can eat correctly, have normal cloths etc... People are supporting a lot of things but they don’t care a lot about this. So I encourage people to think about other people who don’t have the same opportunities. Anyone can help anywhere, every day, every hour.

Feedback & suggestions for improvement!

Well Done, Marie. I;m pleased to see that you've attempted to respond to one presentation. The point you make about the presenter talking about real conflicts is good because you, as the audience, could hear the authenticity in his voice and therefore you connected with his message. This is what you will need to strive for in your own presentation. The audience must feel that you know what you are writing about. Some suggestions to give greater meaning/depth to your response/analysis of the above presentation and to show greater understanding could you:1. Quote a well written sentence from the presentation on peace to substantiate you point about his English;2. You suggested that the presentation could improve with more colours. Good! Can you include an explanation of the colours that would be appropriate and the meanings/messages that the audience could associate with these colours in the context of the main messages within the presentation.
I look forwrad to your analysis of the 2nd presentation. I will expect a depth of analysis along the guidelines above. I also look forward to your Inquiry essay.
Keep persevering, Marie. I'm proud of you.

The peace presentation

Aftre a long look at the presentations, I really liked the presentation about peace because the informations that the student put in were all true. I think that the student put alot of effort in this. This young boy did a really good job about his presentation with his english also. But there is always something to improve and in this case I didnt see alot of colours, but otherwise it was nice. I felt really strange when I first read it, because the boy was talking about real conflicts and he knew what he was talking about, so i really liked it. I definitly agree with him, his point of view is the same as mine so it was really great to see that a young boy has the same thinking as me. All his presentation was really good.It supported his conclusion. I definitly agree with what he is saying there are too many fights for nothing in this world.

Long Overdue Work!

Hi Marie, Its extremely disaapointing that you still have not uploaded your answeres to TWO student presentations from the SSAT-iNET conferences. I believed that you were really positive about participating as you had come to the realisation that as an adolescent of the 21st century this independent, self directed learning was crucial to your own development and preparation for the 21st century work place.

Remember, your Inquiry Essay must also be posted up onto your blog.

The value of blogging

My first experience of blogger was last year with Mr. Peter. We did a lot of blogging. We had too read some books and and do summaries on blogger. Evey one from grade 9 could see what have done and they could comment on our posts. Blogger is a good way of communication you can get a lot of comments about what you have done. So you can become better because you have every one's opinions. It was also good for the other people to see the summaries they could see if they like it or not. This year i would like too set up a blogger too discover my self to know what people think about me (in a good/bad way) . I am very excited to start this new year with blogger
